COVID / Pandemic Update

The presence of the Omicron and Delta Covid Variants poses increased risks to the public and in schools to children.

The Grand Valley Local Schools are not changing its current policies regarding masks, distancing and quarantine procedures. in our schools. We will continue to monitor our schools and work with the Ashtabula County Health Department as they provide continued guidance.

School district leaders in Ohio received a letter from Governor Dewine and the Ohio Hospital Association with guidance and encouragement for keeping schools safe.

The Grand Valley School District Leadership endorses the recommendations that Ohio's hospitals have made.

We encourage all of our families and students to consider the following guidance regarding self and other people's protection from Covid.

  • Students benefit from in-person learning, and safely returning to in-person instruction. Keeping our schools open is a priority.
  • The best protection against developing severe illness from COVID-19, for both school-aged children and adults, remains getting vaccinated. We encourage our parents to get their eligible school-aged children vaccinated.
  • We know that the virus that causes COVID-19 is spread when you cough, sneeze, talk, or sing. We know that masks work and are effective at slowing the spread of this virus. The best way to keep kids in school is to slow the spread of the virus. The best ways to slow the spread of the virus are to get vaccinated and wear a mask.
  • Even students who are asymptomatic or who have relatively mild symptoms have the ability to spread the virus to others
  • We intend to have extra custodial staff sterilizing our facilities daily until further notice.

IMPORTANT:

  • Students, teachers, and staff should stay home when they have signs of any infectious illness or are not feeling well.

Parents of Students who received their First Vaccination at our School Clinic, we are working with the Ashtabula Health Department to Schedule the Second Vaccination Clinic in Our Schools.

We will get this information out as soon as it is available.

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy return to school in 2022!
