The past, present and future of Grand Valley Mustang football will be on hand and on display at the program's Alumni Night on Friday, Aug. 8 at The Reel Family Stadium.
The evening's festivities will include a barbeque, games and music while giving current Grand Valley football players an opportunity to meet Mustang football greats from previous years - an evening highlighted by current players meeting past players and asking permission to wear the former players' numbers this coming season.
Alumni Night will run from 6-8 p.m., with Media Night festivities at 9 p.m. for photo opportunities. The Grand Valley Gridiron Club is sponsoring the evening's proceedings.
First-year head coach Matt Rosati said he is excited to bring a new tradition to the Grand Valley program, one which he knows very well as a former player at Ledgemont and head coach at both Perry and West Geauga.
"I believe I have an obligation to make sure I and our student-athletes understand the rich tradition and history of Grand Valley football," Rosati said. "I think it is really important for our players to shake hands with those players from the past and hear stories about the past that has made Grand Valley a special place. We have a goal to make the alumni from every year proud of our attitude and effort representing our school, community and tradition!"
The barbeque is free of charge, thanks to the efforts of the GV Gridiron Club. Music, cornhole games and a meet-and-greet atmosphere will also be included.
Alumni returning for the event are encouraged to contact Gridiron Club President Douglas Zetlaw via the club's Facebook page or at gvgridironclub.com
"I think our rich Mustang history is incredibly important," Zetlaw said, "and I think relating that and showing the young men how rich our history and success was prior to them is very important moving forward. Additionally, I'm looking forward to meeting some of those Mustang legends I don't know."

Here are a couple important reminders that everyone should get a jump on NOW!
Parents/Guardians MUST make sure your Final Forms account has been updated for the 2025-2026school year. All Forms must be signed, and your student must be registered in their sports team.
Physicals must be current and online in the Athletics office.
Reminder that the football/cheer camp will be held Tuesday, July 22 - Thursday, July 24. The camp will be from 6pm-8pm. Football players will meet at the GV football field and cheerleaders will meet at the fieldhouse. If you have not signed your son/daughter up for the FREE camp there is still time. Just visit the GVgridironclub.com website to register. Whether or not your registered for regular season football/cheer you must be registered separately for the camp and need to be registered to attend camp.

The Final Day of Cheer Camp was intense!
First, members who were nominated for All-American from the first two days of camp participated in an optional tryout for The All-American Team and Medallion.
Scores for the tryout are based on the quality of jumps, entrance/tumbling/enthusiasm, motion technique, memory, spirit/voice projection/expression, and their overall impression and performance.
This tryout is judged by NCA qualified counselors and performed in front of the ENTIRE camp. Of the 14 GV members who were nominated, 3 received this prestigious award! Congratulations to Emma P, Violet M, and Julienne M for making the All-American Team!
Next, the team received a blue Superior Ribbon for their Cheer performance- making all the practice worth it!
The team also competed for the Top Team Band Chant, Top Team Chant and the Top Team Cheer, which earned them the trophy for TOP TEAM CHANT!
Other awards that were earned by the Grand Valley HS Cheerleaders were-
The SPIRIT STICK for consistent enthusiasm, and uplifting support of others.
S.T.A.Y. S.A.F.E. Award for excellent skills in spotting and stunt technique.
The HERKIE TEAM Award and Plaque for leadership, values, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The HERKIE TEAM Award to Coaches Juker and Greathouse.
The TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE Award for efforts and focus on proper motions technique.
The CONGENIALITY AWARD to Coach Greathouse for contributing greatly to the positive atmosphere at camp.
The OUTSTANDING ROOKIE Award to Coach Juker for her 2nd year at NCA camps.
Coach Juker and Greathouse also received certification for VARSITY SPIRIT/NFHS SQUAD CREDENTIALING and COACHING CREDENTIALS.
This team is so impressed by the summer cheer program offered by the National Cheerleading Association at Thiel College, run by Randy Burnett, and especially the one on one coaching we received from our mentor, Molli! We are looking forward to the upcoming season!
