With regard to the Senior Softball night that is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, 2023, we would like to clarify the events as they occurred. Initially, Softball Senior Night was scheduled for 5/4/23 vs. St. Johns it was canceled due to forecasted weather and changed to 5/9/23. On April 30th, the school had a tournament draw that is to be played on 5/9/23. A school cannot have a Senior Night neither at an away event nor at a tournament event. As a result of the tournament draw, the date was moved to 5/10/23 vs. Geneva which was scheduled for tonight but was moved to tomorrow due to the tournament draw. To be clear, Softball Senior Night was never scheduled for Monday 5/8/23 as it was originally scheduled as an away game but got moved to a home game as of Friday 5/5/23. Lastly, Grand Valley values all athletes and athletic teams and would not cancel one event over another because we could have both events relatively easily on the same day. Please understand the spring season is wrought with cancellations and the school must schedule make-up games as soon as a dry day is available whether they are Senior Nights or not. Coach Hall would like to apologize for the confusion with regard to the cancellations and rescheduling of events.
