Hello Online Families,
As this school year comes to a close, we are thinking about next year and preparing our students for the next grade. Grand Valley, in developing it’s Extended Learning Plan which was mandated by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Education, has created the following path:
1) Assess ALL K-11 students to determine students’ present levels of knowledge in Reading/English Language Arts and Math using a tool called the NWEA MAP Assessment. Students will be assessed during the week of May 10-14.
2) Staff will analyze the data from the MAP assessments on May 21st in order to have a better understanding of our students’ levels and needs.
3) Summer intervention will be offered on the ES, MS, and HS levels. The intervention will look a bit different for each level depending upon students’ needs. In addition, intervention will be provided during the school year as needed.
The schedule for the assessments is below:
Grades 6-8 - Wednesday, 5/12/21 - 7:45-10:00
Grades 9-11 - Wednesday, 5/12/21 -10:30-12:45
Students should report to the HS/MS office.
Grades 4 and 5 - Monday, 5/10/21 - 9:00-11:00
Grade 3 - Tuesday, 5/11/21 - 9:00-11:00
Grade 2 - Wednesday, 5/12/21 - 9:00-11:00
Grade 1 - Thursday, 5/13/21 - 9:00-11:00
Kindergarten - Friday, 5/14/21 - 9:00-11:00
Students should report to the ES office.
Please remember: Students need to bring their fully charged, school issued iPads or Chromebooks, wear face masks and bring a filled water bottle. We will provide a snack. (If you do not have a school issued device, it’s ok, we will provide you with one.)
We recognize that our students will be at various levels in their learning. Please know that as long as students participated; meaning they attended their classes or Google Meets, submitted their assignments, progressed through Edgenuity and Odyssey, and attended school regularly they will not be retained not matter what the results of the assessments are. However, if a student did not participate, did not turn in work or attend regularly, they do risk retention.
